Sunday, June 16, 2024: A Denarius. Looking at the parable of the workers in the vineyard from the context in which the parable is given, we find our Lord teaching us that there is great wealth in God’s Kingdom – but it is not wealth as we think of it here in our present culture!
Sunday, June 9, 2024: Seventy-seven. Few things are more important than forgiveness. In the words of Matthew West, “It’s the hardest thing to give away, and perhaps the last thing on your mind today. It always seems to go to those who don’t deserve. It’s the opposite of how you feel, when the pain they caused is just too real. Takes everything you have to say the word.” Yet as Jesus explains it, to be in God’s Kingdom we don’t just have to say it, but mean it from our hearts.
Sunday, June 2, 2024: The Culture of the Kingdom. To live in the Kingdom of God, one must adapt to the culture there. That culture begins with humility – and to that point Jesus gives us a three-part parable. It starts with an object lesson. It includes the shock of hyperbole, and it ends with what might be the most well-known of all the stories Jesus used to describe His Kingdom.
